When Fitness is Functional

Tony Horton, and now Amoila Cesar talk about "Functional Fitness."
That means that the moves done in your workouts are designed to help you in the day to day tasks that you do in real life. Ordinary tasks that commonly injure people because they haven't worked those muscles.

Examples:
When the trainer has you:
squat while holding a weight,
It helps you in real life:
when you pick something up when your arms are full.

When the trainer has you:
work your abs and core,
It helps you in real life:
when you have to carry heavy things like groceries from the car to the kitchen, or full trash cans to the curb.

When the trainer has you:
do an open squat while you reach down with weights, tap the ground, and then lift the weights above your head,
It helps you in real life:
when you pick up your baby and throw him/her into the air.

Remember to notice the "non scale victories" like:
"I can carry SO many more bags of groceries into the house at once!" or
"I can carry my baby and load the washing machine without dying!" or
"I have so much more mental focus and energy at 2pm!"

Are you seeing more stamina and strength in your day to day tasks since you’ve started working out again? If so, share them with me! Thisis a HUGE benefit of weight loss and getting fit!!
Take note of, and lets CELEBRATE all the ways living healthier enriches our lives!!!! <3
