Nothing Has to Be Wrong to Want Something to Change
You don't need a crisis to give yourself permission to become more intentional about your life.
Sometimes we wait for something to be wrong before we give ourselves permission to change it.
A relationship has to be struggling.
Our health has to get our attention.
Work has to become unbearable.
Our schedule has to become completely unmanageable.
We have to feel lost enough, frustrated enough or tired enough before we finally say:
Something needs to change.
But what if nothing is terribly wrong?
What if your life is actually pretty good?
You love your people. You're grateful for what you have. You're doing meaningful things. You're showing up, carrying responsibilities, helping people and getting things done.
And yet...
There's a little voice inside of you that knows you're ready to become more intentional about the life you're living.
It’s important to listen to that voice too.
Your Life Doesn’t Have to Blow Up to Build It More Focused…More Intentionally
So much of our lives gets built while we're busy living it.
One commitment gets added to another. One season rolls into the next. Our kids grow up. Our work changes. Relationships change.
We change.
And sometimes the way we're living doesn't change with the new season.
The priorities we established years ago may not be the priorities we need to take us into the season of growth.
The calendar gets filled before we've stopped to decide what actually deserves a place on it.
We can spend years doing really good things without asking whether they're still the right things for the LifeStory we're trying to build.
That's how default happens.
Not because we're careless about our lives.
Often, it's because we've been so busy taking care of our lives, and everyone in them, that we haven't stopped long enough to examine the big picture. The legacy picture.
When Did You Last Get Curious About Your Own Life?
We regularly evaluate things that matter to us.
Businesses look at numbers.
Teams review performance.
Families check bank accounts.
We maintain our homes, our pets, our bills, our cars.

But when was the last time you intentionally stopped and examined your life?
Who am I in this season?
What do I value?
What are my priorities?
How am I wired?
Where is my time actually going?
What do I want my relationships, work, wellness, faith, finances and future to look like longterm?
Where am I living in alignment with those things?
Where have I slowly slipped into default?
Those questions aren't evidence that something is necessarily wrong.
It’s evidence that you're waking up to the reality of your current situation and where it’s taking you.
Identity Before Activity
This is one of the reasons I created the Growth Table through LifeStory Strategies.
It's not about someone else telling you how to live your life.
It's about creating the space, tools, questions and relationships that help you get clear enough to decide that for yourself.
Identity before activity.
Clarity before another commitment.
Design instead of default.
Not so you can create a perfect life, but so you can become more intentional about the one you're already living.
My next Growth Table begins September 14, and I'm keeping the Table intentionally small.
If something in you knows it's time to pay closer attention to the LifeStory you're building, I'd love to have you pull up a chair.

Around the Table
What part of your life is good, but you know could be more intentional?
Where have you been saying, “I'll get to that eventually”?
If you gave yourself a season to really pay attention to your life, what would you hope was different on the other side?
I hope you’ll consider joining and investing in living a life by design!
